Refund policy


We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to contact us to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging with no evidence of physical impact or wear.  Rough opal must be un-worked. You'll also need to provide the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at sales@smartopals.com.au. Returns will need to be sent to our Post Office Box address in Queensland Australia. The refund will be processed following the receipt of the goods and their satisfactory inspection.

The customer will be responsible for covering all of the financial processing fees and postage costs of both dispatch and return, where the return is due to a change of mind. That is to say, that a refund will be made on the purchase price of the opal, less any outstanding transaction and postage costs. 

Where the item is defective in some manner, we will make arrangements to have the item returned at our expense. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Please note that if your country of residence is not Australia, shipping your goods may take longer than expected.

Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we may evaluate the issue and make it right. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
